Performance Prep was opened in Sept. 1981 as a high performance installation and repair facility. At that time a high performance parts shop occupied the front area of the present shop, by 1982 we had totally outgrown the original shop and we assumed the lease on the large rear building and the front showroom.

The need for a well equipped, full service, upscale repair facility in the area was pretty obvious, so we tooled and equipped to provide what we call "proper automotive care and repair". Everything from basic maintenance to major engine and drive train repair. Over the years Performance Prep has taken the steps to keep up with the ever changing automotive technology, education, tooling, equipment and environmental compliance of today's automotive world. All technicians are ASE "master certified". All equipment is state of the art and all parts are OEM quality or better.

We offer complete maintenance and repair on most makes and models, domestic or import, as well as light truck and motor homes. Performance work is still a major part of our world as well, from horse power engines to lap-top programmable fuel injection systems.

Ward Williamson

Hello, I'm Ward Williamson. I was born and raised in Federal Way. I have been an Automotive Technician since Fall of 1994, and working at Performance Preparation since May of 1996.

I have ASE Master certification, which include engine performance, engine repair, automatic transmissions, manual transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension, heating, air conditioning, and electrical. I graduated from Charles Wright Academy and attended the automotive technology program at Green River Community College.

In my spare time I enjoy extreme sports, skiing, downhill mountain biking, and dirt biking. I am currently in the process of restoring an early 1900’s south Tacoma home along with my wife and 2-year old son, Carter.

Chad McCarville

Chad has an extensive background in import repairs & performance modifications.

He enjoys an occasional drift competition, and still wears his hat backwards when Tom Turner isn’t paying attention (just kidding…). Chad is also an avid fan of online gaming, and can be found after hours somewhere in the Puyallup vicinity.

Kevin McFarland

Hi, I'm Kevin McFarland I'm originally from Tacoma, WA. I came to work at Performance Prep when Jack Britt closed his shop in 2007 where I had worked for 6 years- wrenching. My automotive training was at Renton Vo-Tech and I completed both the GMAC and Ford ASAP programs along the way. Besides working on cars I enjoy racing gas powered RC cars and hanging out with the kids on the weekends.
